Dieffenbachia yellow leaves

An occasional lowest leaf can yellow as the cane grows. Several yellow leaves with wilt or a soft stem need a check of water, drainage, and cold exposure.

Check the root ball

Water a dry center evenly and drain. If the mix is wet, empty the outer pot and let the upper layer dry before watering again. Bright indirect light supports new growth.

A soft cane or continued wilt in wet soil calls for inspecting roots. Keep green leaves and remove fully spent leaves with clean tools; wear gloves to avoid irritating sap.
