Begonia yellow leaves

Cane, rex, wax, and tuberous begonias do not all have the same growth cycle. One old yellow leaf may be aging; widespread yellowing with soft stems needs a root check.

Growing foliage with repeated yellowing

Check the root ball below its surface. Rewet a dry center slowly; empty runoff from a wet pot. Move a shaded plant toward light suited to its type. Keep water off leaves when there are spreading spots.

If a tuberous begonia is entering its normal rest period, leaf loss can be expected and watering should decrease as growth stops. A mushy crown is damage, not dormancy.
